Known limitations

Current compatibility, validation, deployment, and operational limits that must remain visible until evidence closes them.

This page is the safe planning boundary, not a backlog disguised as a release note. If a required capability is missing or not accepted here, treat the deployment as blocked for that use case.

Acceptance state

  • G6 is GREEN on source 17adf0b: W068 replication 147 plus W069 EC 32 merge exactly once in W070, with all strict invariants true.
  • The historical W015 failure and the W019/W020 intermediate proofs remain diagnostic history; they are superseded for gate status by W070.
  • G7 is NOT ACCEPTED and G8 is blocked.
  • Production readiness is NO-GO. The G6-accepted artifact is not a production binary and production :8080 remains on ab5cb95c….
  • The candidate artifact bundle carries auxiliary component source, but the offline pass did not build new Linux binaries for swift-console, swift-deploy-rs, cosbench-rs, or autocos because the cache lacked axum.

Compatibility limits

Area Limit
Swift API implemented/tested subset only; not every standard filter or edge case is accepted
Paste pipeline no arbitrary Python or third-party dynamic plugin loading
S3 the historical 57-case dual-oracle is not GREEN; official s3api/s3tests gates remain distinct
EC Linux + liberasurecode + ec build required; W069 and W070 prove the frozen EC lane and exact merged-179 G6 result for 17adf0b
sharding/reconciliation frozen probe semantics are G6-accepted; broader production behavior remains subject to later gates and rollout evidence
multi-cluster container sync no production soak claim
multi-primary automatic shrink not a production-accepted product path
physical cold tier and local IAM helpers library/helper presence is not a wired production feature claim

Runtime limits

The candidate contains async serve and bounded runtime primitives, but G3 must still prove every relevant request class avoids legacy sync/block-in-place fallbacks, and G7 must test idle connections, slow bodies, cancellation, fairness, bounded memory, shutdown, and durability under load.

Deployment limits

swift-deploy-rs implements a bounded audited subset of the pinned Swift Ansible v3 bundle. Unknown syntax/modules fail closed. It is not a promise that every upstream Ansible role, arbitrary inventory, distribution, or operator overlay is supported.

Performance limits

Published measurements are historical, route-labelled evidence. No current number is a formal G8 production result. Same-host, HAProxy, noisy-host, and direct-proxy measurements answer different questions and must not be merged.

Documentation rule

The current status page overrides older dated narratives. Historical pages remain useful as incident and design evidence, but they do not promote the current candidate.
